Start by making a list of everyone God brings to mind, even if you feel uncomfortable asking them for support. Record each person’s name and remember to mark down his or her response, donation amount, and any other notes you might find relevant.
As a general rule, we encourage you to send one letter for every $50 of your expedition costs. For a trip cost of $3,000, this would translate to sending 60 letters. We have found that the more letters you send, the more money you will raise. Pray and ask God for help in coming up with your recipient list and for the boldness to take the necessary steps. You will be astonished by God’s faithfulness to provide and the generosity of those around you. With that said, understand that fundraising is a marathon. It requires patience and persistence. Don’t hesitate to ask your trip leader for guidance along the way.
