Why should I ask for support?

Raising support for your upcoming expedition is an exercise of faith that reveals God’s faithfulness to provide. Doing so is even a biblical concept.

Jesus and his disciples were supported by others around them. Luke tells us,

“He began going about from one city and village to another, proclaiming and preaching the Kingdom of God; and the twelve were with Him…and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means (Luke 8:1-3).”

Paul’s ministry was funded in this same way. He accepted the support of others with enthusiasm, understanding that those who gave were investing in the Kingdom. He encouraged the Philippians,

“…I have received everything in full, and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. And my God shall provide all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:17-19).”

God is glorified when believers invest their material possessions to further the work of Christ in this world. For those who may not feel called to go with you overseas, they can still be a part of your mission through their financial support. They can join your team and take joy in God’s work through your experience.
